It drives him NUTS

I love Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop! Here's this week's prompt:

Mama’s Losin’ It

Something you do that drives your significant other CRAZY.

That's easy.

BLOGGING.

I guess I haven't adequately explained to him how much I enjoy all aspects of it.

Obviously the act of writing and creatively expressing myself are appealing to me. I guess it's kind of like having a diary or journal as a kid. Blogging is a way to get those feelings out.

The whole reason I started blogging was to document our lives. Honestly, I cannot wait to turn my blog into a book or books. I hope my kids will look back through it and recall all the good memories they had growing up.

And who knew I'd love creating cute headers and little blog buttons. It's like coloring for adults! And those plug-ins and widgets? I thrive on figuring all of those things out.

But when I try to explain all of those things to Alex, he would still rather me spend my time doing other things.

How about you? Does your spouse support your blogging? How do you handle it?

  1. Hah- my spouse doesn't bother reading my blogs. It's kind of a...let down ;o). I have the same dream- of printing my blog off for my child(ren) to read one day and glean wisdom, if any. In fact, I write little notes directed to my daughter at the end of each! Thanks for sharing! You've inspired me to try some buttons~

  2. My hubby won't read my novels, but he does read my blog! He's supportive up to a point... but my WIP is at a tipping point where it either has to get DONE or it will be lost in limbo forever.
In his defense, it's the third novel I've written since November, and I still need to edit the first one before I can send it to an agent.
Also, in his honor, the only reason I've come this far at all is BECAUSE of his support! During NaNoWriMo last November the only thing he asked in return for taking care of a lot of MY responsibilities (so I could spend more time writing) was that THIS time, I must send something to an agent or publisher.

  4. Yeah ... it's hard to strike a balance. But seeing as this is wonderful outlet for me, he's supportive. Does he always "get it"? No ... but that's okay.

  5. It's funny you should write this today because my husband usually supports it but today we were arguing and he was said, "You need to get off your blog and do this!" I looked at him open-mouthed and he apologized because he does know how much my blog means to me.

I am chronically ill and always in pain, and my blog is the best therapy and medicine out there for me!

  6. Nick is supportive, but only to an extent... And so many times when he does something funny, he'll say,"Please don't blog that." I just laugh. My mom turned my blog into a book for Christmas on blurb. So cool!

Thanks for stopping by last week - I was overwhelmed by the SITS support!
